Pudge, Screwbs, do you guys have a preference on hook size for spoons?

    Gentlemen,

I have four rods I used for trolling ...8 to 8.5 feet in length, all equipped with Okuma Magda Pro reels with line counters .. I use them at the western end of Lake Ontario as well as at the Bay of Quinte in Oct/Nov/Dec. (I usually flat line but Jeff has me thinking its time to get some downriggers too). I have no idea what line I have on my rod/reel combos.... so its probably a good time to change that old line ... sounds like 30 lb Berkley Big Game is the line of choice for a lot of you when trolling Lake O for salmon ...... will that be suitable as well for the fishing I do at Quinte in late fall ? Thanks ...Frenchie

Frenchie, The more research I do the more I am finding guys seem to get better results using some type of diver. I've read this so much in fact that I am now considering getting just 1 down rigger as yesterday I purchased 3 different divers for use on my second rod.

I’m going to run 30lb Ande Mono for my rigger and get some 30lb Fireline Braided for the rig with the diver, both outfits will have 50lb Seaguar flouro leaders.

run the dypsie on 7 strand wire instead of braid. dives deeper and flies dont stick as well and the fight is incredible as you feel every shake and pull.
