Default Can you convert a muzzleloading rifle into a shotgun??

Sorry for the newbie question. As you can probably tell I don't hunt with a muzzleloader but thinking about it in the future.

Is it just a matter of changing the barrel? Or would you need different guns for rifle and shotgun?

Most in-line ML manufacturers also have a 12 ga barrel available for their guns. I did just that with my Traditions Pursuit, the shotgun barrel cost me an extra $200. I have since put away my 'shells' and only hunt the Turkey season with the ML. Great fun.

    Thanks MP.

I thought this may be the case but it was not obvious from the manufacturer's websites that a smoothbore could be added to the same setup.

    Thanks for clarifying!

I should have added, you pretty much have to deal directly with the manufacture, check their website and sent them an email.

Thompon Center Encore has it all. Pricey but multiple selections.

Mossberg 500 use to have a muzzleloader/shotgun combo. TC Pro hunter can be purchased as a ml and then you can buy a shotgun barrel for it.
