    Default deer and apples

Where im hunting there is no apple trees.. i do have access to alot of apples though. does anyone think it would be effective to through a bushell of apples out by my area?? i dunno if they will pick them up off the ground or they want fresh apples straight from the tree... anyone tried it?? also they might find it fishy if there are apples where there are no trees.

Put them out for sure. They love apples, they just hammer them at my sites whether apples are native to the area or not. I cut a few up, or simply step on them to get some scent going, and just leave the others whole on the ground. They will find them, good luck

P.S. Just on the ground is fine. Do you have a trail cam yet?

we put them out by the pail full and they come to them all the time, usually cleaning them all up within days of bringing them out. Pick them off the ground or pick them off the trees, they won't really care, they will eat them any way they can get them. I have found that they will eat the fresher ones first, the more rotten ones tend to stay around until the pickings become slim. They also don't seem to mind that there are no apple trees around even though we planted some young apples trees on our property but they probably won't have much fruit on them for the first 5 years ore more, but here is hoping that these trees bring lots of fruit and relieve my arms from having to bring the pails in...

    good luck

Ohhh, I thought this was a recipe for Deer and apples.

Dirty Dog. That sounds like a better way of doing it if you have the place, I hope you planted 2 varieties of the same group or they won't pollinate. good luck.

i dont have a cam.. but i could scout them i guess.. i've seen deer come to the trees in the winter and dig the ground up for fallen ones... but i've never seen them in the fall eating them.. i know the snow apples that are there right now are ripe and delicious.. if i was a 10pointer.. id eat them all day long

The girlfriends land had two apple tree's on it. One infront of their house and one out back in the feild. I took a hand full to my cam and put them in front of it. Next time im bringing a bag back to my camera full of them.

We get ground fall apples all the time and spread them around. They get hit by deer and bears all the time. I also get frozen concentrated apple juice and put it onto stumps. Break some of the apples with a stick to allow the smell to get out quicker. Windfalls can be bought dirt cheap at any orchard. They apparantly can't sell them anymore. They used to be used for juice.
