Most forest companies control the land while its under their use. They can block any activities, even on crown. Pretty sure this is covered in the public lands act...

domtar logging outta there?
They own a couple chunks of land out here (ottawa). Mostly swamp land. I know guys that have hunted those chunks of property (no camp... just walk in walk out) for a looong time and have never had a problem. They spoke to people at domtar a while ago and they said go ahead nobody is ever there. It was all bought out a while ago and had no real value at the then ... hasn't changed lol. It was bought as an investment in the event that the area devellopped. Never did, satelite city plan died and the green belt came in ... good for us, not as crowded as it could have been out this way.
Great hunter. Yes? Fine figure of a man. Yes?
Good. That is all you need to know. For now.

Just starting out
Domtar owns more that 55,000 acres spreading out from either side of Hwy 62 (Zones 60 & 61) which they lease to a number (40-50?) of camps. The land is named the "Gilmour Tract." Prior to the economy going south Domtar had been interested in selling the land, but only as a whole. I believe at the moment it's off the market. Typically the camps pay a lease amount equal to the property taxes on the land plus whatever surcharges Domtar wishes to add.
With the state of the economy and demand for lumber being what it is, you would think that Domtar won't want to get rid of the income that the hunting camps provide. But then again, there's no guarantee.
If anyone has more information, I'd be glad to hear it as well.

Ask somebody about the leases on the Algoma RailRoad property on the Kabenung Road, north of Wawa. Some rich American purchased a couple of townships from Algoma then sent letters to the leasees, this is what you pay or you are out. I'm sure someone in this forum has the correct story.

Since they already cashed my cheque I kinda figurured that... Its next year and the years after that have got me worried.

Lets hope the economic downturn makes Domatar think twice about trying to screw around with what's essentially a sweet deal for them and a win win situation for both Domtar and the hunters who lease the land.
