My buddy tried it and couldn't get enough volume or enough range for remote set-up. I went with an e-caller and decoy that worked a lot better. I can set it up,easily,at 100M giving a tremendous fire zone.
You can solve the volume problem, by placing the speaker face down on a Styrofoam cooler, or inside the cooler or a plastic tub facing away from the opening. As for the distance you're going to have to find something with more range..
So setup the caller out from you and let it play continuously..... Then scream out with some hand calls as loud as you can.... If a coyote hears your screaming sounds, it may enter the field and lock into the sound coming from your Bluetooth speaker keeping their eyes off you.... It doesn't get much cheaper or effective as that..
ive used a phone and called in a pack once. i was a fool and was not hidden well, but they sure swore up a storm before taking off.
It has been my personal experience that max volume on an electronic call do not bring them in from 2 townships over to you. I had success with a budget priced Foxpro and thought that I would do better with a mega blaster horn. Not so for me. If the coyotes are in the area they will come running. Just think of how a wounded rabbit would sound like volume wise and adjust output accordingly. The blue tooth speakers can put out a fair amount of volume. See if it equals a hand held call. If so, you are good to go.
Last winter I saw a coyote crossing a bean field at 200 meters. I used a simple mouth call to stop him dead in its tracks and took the shot. They have an incredible hearing capability. Ever see them hunt mice in a snow covered field? Keep the volume level natural as possible.
No coyote will come to a mega giant jack rabbit if it believes he will get beat up by it....lol
For a decoy I was going to use a stuffed toy rabbit attached to my fishing line and then make calls. I have both a mouth piece and like others calls on my cellphone.
Would this work? Maybe.
How long should we stay at a spot, before giving up.
