The Exodus of Toronto

As predicted the Toronto exodus is still happening. Some strong real estate numbers in surrounding areas. I am just curious how long this will last post vaccination? I know some smaller companies will consolidate offices and move 'some' people to remote (home office) locations, but other companies will bring employees back into the office. Will people be able to live in cottage country and afford to have a condo in the city if interest rates creep up, and personally I believe they need to creep up.

That is going to be one hell of a commute to have to get in and out of Toronto via car or the GO snail train from 60-100kms away. Just curious to see how this will play out.

There was a story out yesterday that about 50 thousand left Toronto last year.

Last week I was reading that North Bay saw a large spike in U-Haul truck drop off.
It doesn't say that they all went there but did say North Bay had the largest amount of U-Hauls being dropped off. In Ontario.

If I could see the future I'd already own my own private Island in the south pacific where I'd have been for the last year. :)

In "some" few ways I think it's a wee bit good. It might alleviate some of the upward pressure on housing in the GTA. I've mentioned my niece and her friends, that over the last 2 years have moved to Seagrave. The GTA gets 70% of all immigration each year. While immigration numbers fluctuate, its around 200,000 to Canada per Annum. So since around 1990 or the last 30 years, that's 100-150k per year or just over 3 million people needs housing of some type. And jobs....

There are reasons sooooo many go to the GTA to live....and work...

Without the infractsure and without the jobs to support stuff..............Aside from land taxes likely exploding in the outer area's it's going to create other problems.
Personally, I dont see any good coming of it, or happy endings

Think about how I feel. I did plan ahead, for the future. I do have cottage on a private island...in the Kawartha's, that they don't want me to visit. Maybe a maintenance check next week. lol.

This is going to change the demographics of most big cities - and not for the better. If the affluent and flexible workforce starts the exodus of large cities like TO, & NY there will be an erosion of the tax base and the downward spiral will begin. We just need to look at large cities in the US to see where this has already happened and is still happening.

who would want to live in toronto? overpriced homes and a liberal cess pool..ive been avoiding like the plague before this pandemic..no wonder theres rumours its own mayor doesnt live there....just like Cambridge Mayor (former Lieberal MP Kathryn McGarry) lives in North Dumfries and not cambridge - thats ok shes just forcing safe injection sites in cambridge to make the city a better place to live!
Just like the city of Detroit rotted to its core after years of democRAT run mayors, much the same will come of the cities run by these left leaning Lib mayors, its only a matter of time

There are already large areas in Peel and Mississauga that are already cesspools..rotten to the core and not fit to raise a family in. .

Undesirables? Typically low income, etc.

Want guess to why economically depressed areas have a disproportionate number of “bad people”?
