A frames & layouts

Hey everyone,

We recently had this debate amongst other hunters. When hunting waterfowl in a cut field is it unheard of to hunt with both an aframe and a layout. Some guys don't have a layout blind. I personally don't think it makes a difference as long as everything is brushed in nicely

I believe the it depends on the circumstances. If you're exactly where the birds want to be can get away with alot.
If you're not where they want to be or the birds are wary blending in is even more important.
In a pinch a simple layout can be had with a ground sheet/sleeping pad, plywood A frame for a bit of a back rest, and a burlap sheet covered in surround veg makes for a cheap hide.

In general, layouts will always hide better, but a frames are a hell of a lot more comfortable.

Don't see any reason why you couldn't have layouts beside an a frame.

We always ran layouts in cut corn but aframe would work. Aframe in the middle, blind or two on each side should work fine.

I will admit to being a diehard layout shooter. That said, I have seen birds flare off an A-frame blind far more often than I have seen them flare off a layout when each of them are brushed properly. Like finsfurfeathers suggests you would probably be better laying on the ground and covering up than using an A-frame in a cut field.
