Recovered Body Today

A 70 year old man went ice fishing yesterday by himself at a local lake - he didn't return home at night so wife called police - they searched several hours in the dark but couldn't find him - his car was in the parking lot and they saw his ice equipment on the ice - this morning they resumed the search and found his body - evidently he fell through the ice and drowned - during the summer a 50 year old guy drowned in the same lake - he fell overboard and his boat kept going - you got to be careful especially if you go out alone - I used to go ice fishing but don't anymore because the ice just isn't has thick as it was years ago due to the warming trend - I guess if your time is up and you got to go - going while your fishing has its merits -

It does, but going by a cold horrible death because you were stupid and pushed your luck on end of the year ice leaves a lot to be desired in my books.

Sad to hear indeed. There's been a few this year. Heard of quite a few guys taking the plunge here this year but so far they have been lucky.

Read a truck went thru pulling the ice shacks off yesterday ..."missed it by that much" :)

I hear funny stories from a neighbor who has his own tow truck from time to time when he gets calls to pull vehicles out of lakes that went through the ice. It's not an easy job,is very expensive and insurance won't cover it. Thankfully,this year,I haven't heard of losing anyone around here.....so far.

T, I thought I read a number of years back that insurance companies now do insure vehicles that have gone through the ice. Could be mistaken though.

I always thought only related to registered ice roads, but I am thinking aways back.
