Which Service Clubs??

I have a pile of fishing gear that I can never use in my lifetime, lures, jigs, spare rods, reels, line, that sorta stuff. Most is brand name like Shimano, Rapala, Shakespeare Ugly Sticks, etc. I've seen on occasion young kids fishing the local river and their tackle is somewhat limited. So I'd like to talk to a service club, Lions, Rotary club, whoever would know what families in town may be lacking in funds or just not too well off. Maybe a direct donation of this gear would be appreciated to some kid who'd get to use it. But I have no idea what group to approach and handle this discretely. You guys have any ideas on who or how to get this done?

Right off the top of my head,have you considered OFAH Tackle Share and Canadian Tire Jump Start?

That is outstanding of you Sawbill. That is right the OFAH has a tackle share program.

The other is I wonder if your local Big Brothers/Sisters might have a youngster involved in their organization that might be an ideal candidate?

I wonder if the CNIB would be interested? I know they have a summer camp down in the Muskoka's, but there may well be a local branch near you? Or perhaps there are other organisations that offer summer activities for handicapped kids? Ya got me thinking now.

Good morning folks, thanks for the ideas. I'd like to keep it local but at least you've given me places to start. I have another 30 jerk baits on the go and my wife is wanting her sewing room back so gotta do a cull darn soon.

Goodwill Industries isn't a "service club".. It's a private corporation that takes in donations then sells them at reduced prices.

That’s true Trimmer. But I’m not sure how many options Sawbill has. It’s not like he’s in the Shwa.

So while they will resell. It’s still a place where many without, pick stuff up. Maybe some of it becomes a kids b-day present.
