Pit Bulls

Another tragedy - where a pit bull kills someone - https://www.foxnews.com/us/new-jersey-boy-pit-bulls - years ago I lived in New Jersey and I remember when 3 dogs killed two little boys that were playing in their yard - the mother was looking out the kitchen window when she saw the dogs attack her kids - she grabs a rake and runs out into the yard to stop the dogs - she hits the dogs with the rack but dogs when in a pack can get very aggressive and she couldn't stop the dogs - at that point I guess she lost it and ran into the house - called her husband on the phone (bad move) - dogs killed the two kids - I told my wife if that lady had a gun she could have saved the kids - it wasn't long after that I bought my wife a hand gun and showed her how to use it - there are certain breeds of dogs that you can't trust - especially if there are a couple of them - they reenforce each other

Its not just certain breeds you can't trust, if its not your dog, then don't trust it, and if it is your dog, then you better be responsible for it

I think the issue is not that a dog will bite but the damage it will or can inflict. The biggest argument by pit bull lovers is that rat dogs bite far more often than a pit bull does which begs the question, would you prefer your kid gets attacked by a chihuahua or a pit bull? And the second most common line used by pit bull owners is, "I just don't understand why. She's always so gentle."

The big issue with pit bulls (and huskies) is that they don't bite. They kill.

I don’t mind American Bull dogs and their variants. Commonly referred to as pit bulls. And, I would put most of the blame on the owners. Poor training etc.

But, as noted aside from all animals having minds of their own, and being unpredictable . There’s a world of difference between bite force, psi and ferocity. Would you rather be accidentally shot by a .22 or .357

i watched someones pitbull for a night with one of my buddies, the dog was sleeping facing the opposite direction of me, i got up to go get something, i stubbed my toe on a desk, this dog, got up and did a 360 at the same time and jumped in my direction clearing about 5 feet and stopping right at my belt line. all i seen when it jumped was gums and teeth. called the owner she came to get her dog within a hour, needless to say i was scared of my own dog for like a week or 2 after that LOL

Comes down to the owners....always....I've played with big massive sucky babies...and ones I'd have no problems taking for a solo walk in the bush. Unfortunately, if there's an idiot owner....there's alot of risk to anyone not paying attention.

Well my little guy has been attacked twice by yellow lab's and once by a wolf/husky cross. All these dogs were aggressive and my dog defended me as is part of his nature. Has never shown aggression to any person but I am sure he would if I were to be attacked, its built into the nature of the breed. He can play and socialize with any dog that does not show aggressive tendencies. Will they do more damage, yes because the breed is developed for holding with a big bite force.
