Dead Deer

Yesterday I was splitting some firewood and happened to look over to my boat - saw a dead yearly deer under the boat - checked it out and couldn't see any sign that it was killed by a predator or that something started eating it - last year I found one also and 2 years ago I found 4 yearly dead from no apparent reason - all the deer were young and still had spots on them - at that time I called the game commission and told them about the dead fawns I found but they didn't seem overly concerned - stating the young deer like that could die from a lot of reasons and it is just natural - was wondering if anyone experienced similar situations- I figure that if a coyote, a bear or bobcat killed the deer they would start eating it - seems like a mystery to me -

Really putting a lot of time getting firewood at this time - have a lot of dead ash around so I'm pretty business -

Not that I know of - although it has been found in deer in the past - the mystery is why do I only find young deer dead - most still have spots on them so they are actually fawns - if there was an outbreak of EHD you would think that older deer would also be found - so far no deer have been found to have CWD in the area where I hunt but one was found in the next county - so it is getting close - makes you think twice about eating deer meat

Only deer we've found dead were from poaching . Couple years back me and my dad were on the hunt for some land so we would go walk the property with the relators premmision from the land owner. Found a couple dead bucks that were basically shot and meat taken quickly. All bones hide and head were left what looked like a quick gut job and meat taken.

Other than that we haven't seen any dead animals on the property were on here.

Perhaps natives?
If the deer was done gutless method ,hide spread on the ground-basically deer laying on its belly-meat gone-with all other stuff left on the spot, sounds like them.......
Other question would be-did they trespass?

Well it was around shelburne so I doubt natives. It was also out of season by a long shot so I'm almost certain poaching. Called the ministry and reported it. They went to check it out but didn't get any info about it since. Poaching and trespassing has become a big issue.

On the flip side I got a email from mnr saying they're hiring 25 additional conservation officers so.
