JoePa, I've been reading about Alex Baldwin accidentally shooting a staff member with a "cold prop gun," I'm wondering, in the States, before you load it up, if you go through the same procedure for checking out a firearm as we are trained to do here in Canada ?

Apparently on movie sets there are 3-4 checks given to any firearm. That's why this tragic accident is so bizarre. How could 3-4 people make an error?
That's what I was hoping to find out if they have a different approach to checking the safety of firearm south of the line. What we do up here pretty much ensure that the prop gun used was mistakenly load with a live round, and not a blank or dummy round. For a dummy round to look like an authentic bullet for the movies, the brass may not have hole drill in it, but would presumably have an inactive primer and no powder charge. Without holes in the brass it would make hard to distinguish a dummy round from a live round. Here also, the bore of the firearm would be checked to ensure it was clear.

When your talking about movies your asking the wrong guy - I haven't been to a movie theater since 1963 - there's two things that I am proud of - the other is I never took any of my vehicles to a place to have the oil changed - always changed my own oil - Geesh I thought we were talking about beer!
Lots of complaints of corners being cut, not paid, etc. Only 2 people should ever handle those weapons, the safety tech, (gun plumber) to ensure its state, and then directly to the user and back to the safety tech, not left laying around or handed off to anyone else.
Sorry for hijacking your threat, I was just trying to find out if Americans have a different approach to ensure a firearm is safe than what we do here in Canada. I was following the Baldwin story and wondering about the slip up with a prop guns. Turns out there was a live firearm on the prop tray, ( and someone who was in charge of the tray, apparent the one who was responsible for the prop tray was somewhere else,) the long and short of the story was the individual who hand Baldwin the gun was "live," and told him it was a 'cold gun' when he couldn't have known.

No kidding Joe...the very first three 3 post took it way off topic..
And then they apologize and continue. HaHa...
Have to say I've never had a Yuengling Beer Joe...but if it's anything like our MooseHead beer brewed here in New Brunswick since 1867, I'm sure it is worth having a pint or two :)
It doesn't say in the article..but do you know if employees get a case of beer a week as part of the 'benifits/perks' package ?
I don't mind anyone changing the subject - just good to hear from people - but yes Yuengling brewery is the oldest in the states and if you enjoy a glass of beer having one on draft is as good as you can find - canned and bottled beer is pasteurized and takes away from a beer - if you drink a draft beer right out of the keg you can tell the difference - as far as this character Baldwin is concerned don't know much about him but from the little I know he sounds like a bum -
After my dad's second brother was killed in a mine accident my mother wouldn't let him go back to work in the mines - so he worked in a brewery off and on over the years - it wasn't a steady year around job - worked during the summer and around Christmas - when he did work I would pick him up after work - they had a bar in the building where you could go and get free beer - me and my buddy would arrive early and have a few before my father got done with work - I assume that if you work at a brewery you would get the beer cheaper than if you didn't -
My aunt lived to be 97 - she was always sharp like a tack - she usually had a glass beer every day - said that a little alcohol is good for you - keeps the circulation going -
