Lets talk Hub blinds (ground) I currently have 1that I really like it has 4 windows with a zipper style to lower or raise the window , well I was looking for a new one but I can only find the ones that have velcro on the mesh to raise or lower they state you can shoot through . That being said I use it for deer turkey both gun and bow I use fixed broadheads anyone try shooting through them , how did you find it . Thanks
The mesh won't affect bullet flight but it's mostly a one and done kind of thing, muzzle blast blows the living bejeekers out of the screens. When you start messing with a 50 cal inline it pretty much obliterates the screens to the point of being able to easily stick your head out the hole.
Mechanical heads, I wouldn't dream of it but I'd chance a shot out to 15 yards with fixed heads. I set up an old blind the bears tore up and tried shooting fixed COI heads through the mesh at 20 yards, the first shot was within a couple inches but the hole changes the tension of the screen. All in all a ten shot group at 20 yards ended up being over 8 inches which is pretty awful.

Why shoot through them. I open them up sufficiently enough to allow a barrel to extend past the mesh or a broadhead to fly without interference. The game on the receiving end do not seem to notice.
What's more important with these screen windows, is how well you can see thru them, especially when the sun is on them. I bought one at CT last year and the visibility isn't very good. I end up removing most of the screens on one side so I can see better. Especially bad with binoculars, the camo pattern is too thick on the screen and blocks the view
It also has a weird set up for the center window on these hubs, they're a bit too high. I ended up shooting a hole in the tent when I took a quick shot at a coyote last year. The barrel was lower than the edge of the window (scope was fine) while sitting in a chair. Have to use the side/corner windows for hunting
Well everyone brings up good points I just like the fact that i can lower the mesh with the slider and no noise ,I guess I can prelower the window ,but I like it helps break up my outline . Thanks

Purchased one myself, I have two spots I hunt from a blind so figured buy another leave it setup so do not have to take down when I decide to hunt another location,
Sounds similar to the one I got last year. Previously, I had an ameristep doghouse which I loved - but the bears got it. This one has triangle (good) windows at the corners, but inverted triangles on the sides (not good). The windows are also higher than the dog house so you need to sit up straight and tall to shoot.Quote:

Yes I does make you wonder about window height , I found that I had to extend my rest with them , I practiced before season at the club with the bow in mine but I never shot through the window material
I bought 2 Ameristeps for this year so my dad and I could hunt a new property that wasn't so tree stand friendly. The Element was the bigger, more expensive of the 2. I did like that the door was connected on the bottom and there were plenty of windows, downside is that almost all the "shoot through" screens were too small for the windows! most of them did not fit and they can be a bit hard to see through. The 2nd was the caretaker. It was a bit smaller (says for 2 people), but was very comfortable for 1 guy setup with a chair. The caretaker was a bit easier to setup than the Element, but with the extra room I'd grab another element if I did it again. Just hoping I got a bad batch of screens for it and they aren't all made too small
