The COVID and carbon rights killers
Great article in the financial post.
They are not going to let up until they get their way with the Great Reset and Build Back Better.
Is was never about a virus.
"From lockdowns to massive government debts and inflation-promoting monetary policy, just about anything goes when it comes to fighting the pandemic. Individual freedoms have been eroded. Global public sector and private debt soared to $226 trillion in 2020, the largest one-year debt surge since the Second World War, according to the IMF . One trillion of that debt belongs to the Canadian federal government and another trillion will soon be on the books of Canada's provinces."
"Plenty of evidence suggests the pandemic policy response, based on aggressive state mandates and controls, may be just the beginning of a new system in which governments assume new powers and authority to control personal and economic behavior."
"Authoritarian climate governance might include prohibitions on eating meat "even if doing so cuts against the wishes of democratic publics or violates individual or group-based rights."
None of this is especially novel or shocking. As U.S. climate skeptic Marc Morano writes in response to Mittiga, the COVID-carbon link has been well-established. Celebrated socialist economist Mariana Mazzucato long ago suggested that unless we do capitalism differently, climate lockdowns may be needed to limit private-vehicle use, ban consumption of red meat, and impose extreme energy-saving measures, while fossil-fuel companies would have to stop drilling.
And so, as the pandemic crisis eventually recedes, the ideas behind the policy approaches to COVID-19 will not go with it. As we hunker down in solitary under the Omicron lockdown, better now to start thinking about secretly filling the solar-powered freezer with rib eyes.
