There's been guys fishing on Scugog since this past weekend. Tuesday there were three ice boats out there doing their thing. Awesome to watch them skim across the ice especially with the wind we had that day... A few portable ice huts were out there yesterday along with some kids playing hockey out front the Scugog Marina here in town...
Haven't heard how thick the ice is out there but a word of caution is advised...
I live on the bog and have been testing the ice since just before Christmas
WHERE I LIVE AND WHERE I'VE TESTED the ice is in very good shape and building rapidly
I won't mention on a public form what area of the lake or how much ice but will say proceed with caution
I was to the top of Scugog Island last week after grouse before it closed. The channel was still open with only a couple of inches near shore. No way I'd go on it.
Is it time to get the deep fryer out? Crappies are on the menu.
