New scope put its first coyote down
I changed up and sighted in my scope yesterday. I had a 4x12 but found it a little tough getting the coyote in the crosshairs especially when they are close, so I bought myself a 3x9 Bushnell Engage with illuminated reticle. I could not use the illuminate reticle as it was too bright outside but the little centre dot really helped me line up the coyote. Being a right handed shooter and left eye dominate I am learning to keep my left eye shut and that little centre dot did seem to help line up the shot.
I got to the farm and setup a few minutes before 4pm...
I picked this particular location because how isolated it is from any farm house or road. It is basically a 100yd by 200 yd field surrounded by bush. A good place to call during mid/late day.
It was a little noisy going in so I waited about 10 minutes for things to settle down before I began calling.
After about 3 minutes this coyote shows up on the edge of the bush, sees my decoy and starts racing toward it. I yelled out a loud WOLF sound but he did not stop causing me to yell out HEY YOU.... He stopped, turned to look at me and I put that little dot on his chest and he fell over... Nice quick hunt gave me the opportunity to skin it out on site.
