Yeah but blocking commerce at international borders is probably what sparked this. It’s unacceptable, and it’s doing more harm. If protesters won’t leave, the provinces have little choice. Time the feds step up.
The current circumstances in Ottawa or on the border would not appear to meet the definition of a national emergency under Section 3 of the Emergencies Act.

The Ambassador Bridge was reopened without anyone being hurt and was well within the capacity of the province to manage. The events in Ottawa while no doubt upsetting to the residents do not fall into the category of endangering life and can be managed with any number of other Canadian laws without stripping away the Charter rights of every single person in the country.Quote:
