Here are the latest sales results for those interested. Bright star was the castoreum prices since such a low volume of beaver were trapped. Very low clearances on a lot of the items ( eg. not a happy camper if you sent in a pile of rats and coon). Rats didn't even sell. Poor clearance on eastern coyote.Low prices on fisher, otter, and marten. Would have been a tough sale with russian presence lacking.
Just sent in beaver, rats and coon for the June auction...delayed sending them in last year, but didn't want to hold onto the fur any longer. Hopefully they will sell now.
Unbelievable with pricing.
Hate to say it but more and more bodies will be tossed into the bush rather than person wasting time processing, if prices stay.
Even though tempted to toss the bodies, i am still processing furs to keep in practice and keep self pride in the art of trapping.
I sold all my beavers at the auction for an average of 14$ and if you add the castor price per beaver that adds another 11.63$. The smaller sizes didn't sell for much. I got 4$ for a medium sized beaver and sold one ermine for 4.10$!
It appears that this year,eastern Coyote pelts are in the tank. It's hardly worth taking them except for pest/varmint/predator control. I wonder if they'll ever recover?
