Crossbow moose hunting

Our group is looking to change from rifle moose hunting to crossbow moose hunting. We haven't had much luck rifle hunting due to most are farmers so we have to go late November, after they harvest.

The early season looks like it may work for the group and an added bonus is we can call. My question is what broadhead have you, crossbow moose hunters, found work for you.
We will all be using Excalibur Xbows. Everything from the 308 Short to Micro 355 models. My bow is the G340 Matrix. I bought the Excalibur 150G Trailblazer mechanical broadheads. I like the extra weight over the 100G heads and the FOC advantage for longer shots.

When we bow hunted moose, I used 125 gr Thunderheads. Personally, I wouldn’t use mechanicals for moose. I’ve had mechanicals not open fully on light hided deer. I’ve seen Thunderheads go completely through a 45 gal steel drum, with no blade breaks. I’m sure there are other great fixed blade broadheads on the market now…
Guys I know that hunt very successfully, all use fixed blades.

I was eyeing up the Excalibur 150G fixed Bolt Cutter broadheads but didn't like the narrow cutting width. The reviews on the Bolt Cutters were very little blood trail?

The moose I shot in my avatar photo I used G5 Striker V2 broadheads. They are fixed broadheads with a larger cutting diameter (1.25”) and are very sharp out of the package. You can get replacement blades for them as well. I used 100 gr heads on the moose but have since switched to the 125 gr heads to add a bit more weight. Both have performed well. I would definitely recommend them. For comparison I use an Excalibur Axiom (305 FPS).

im not a fan of mechanicals a guide i know had one explode on a moose and very little damage other than an infected wound , muzzy mx4 or excalibur broadheads work well for us hope this helps

I like Slicktrick Grizztricks but most sharp 2-4 blade fixed will do the job

I shot a bull last October in wmu49. Used a mag340 with 150gr fixed blade bolt cutter, shot was about 5yards angling down from a 12ft ladder stand. The Bull trotted about 50 yards bedded, got back up bedded again and died in about 20 mins. Found the bolt complete in the body cavity, no bones hit, and also no blood trail because of no exit wound.
I'm happy with the results but would of expected a pass through.
Luckily I could watch the entire time so the blood trail wasn't needed.

I've been using the 150gr. boltcutters for a number of years with my 380 XTRA. Don't always get a great blood trail, but haven't lost a deer yet. Since going to this bow and broadhead combo however the deer have never made it 50yds.
