After Market Junk

The old Simplicity tractor ran out of gas as I was spraying my fruit trees - filled up the gas tank and started it but it wouldn't run right - it would speed up and down and then it finally stopped - figured that some dirt got into the carburetor when the gas tank got empty - I changed the fuel filter, fuel pump, air cleaner and then bought an after market carburetor instead of rebuilding or cleaning the old one - put everything together and tried starting it - no go - checked for spark - got spark - checked for fuel - got fuel - now what - well I took off the new carburetor and put on the old one after taking it apart and cleaning it - tried starting it - bango - she started and ran beautiful - moral of the story - don't buy the Chinese made junk they sell you - sure it costs a lot less but you never know what your getting - that goes with car parts too - a lot of people put the junk into their cars and before long they got troubles - Joe

Amen, we pay to fill our dumps with stuff that is complete junk.

I have bought 2 of the Junk Carbs from Amazon and I agree both were junk.

Sadly, enough people buy this junk that it puts the guys making quality stuff out of business, or their prices end up so high its not reasonable for the average person. Which then forces them to buy junk. Hand tools come to mind, I could buy 30 Chinese wrenches for the price of a single Snap-on.

Most of the snap on is made in China

That is in essence -our Government's s fault.
No protection for domestic industries----no protection for domestic jobs-no protection for our own interests(jobs/quality product/affordable selection)and no regards for the environment(dumping all the cheap import 3 x faster than any other stuff)

To be brutally honest Domestic is not always very good quality and quite often very over priced as well.

You can't really just blame it on being Chinese Junk as many of the good quality stuff is made in China as well. Most electronics are made in China both cheap crap and good quality stuff, many hand tools are also made in China. A neighbour down the road owns a snap on business and even he said many of the tools are now made in China but just at a better quality level.

What do we want then?

Not sure what you mean. You can still buy quality stuff even if it is made in China, but not very often will you get quality on Amazon.

Just be sure what the quality of the item is your buying. If you want a quality item you just have to know where to buy it and sometimes that is the dealer. North American companies that have product built in China still insure quality control. But there are a lot of Chinese junk that has no quality control.

I bought a new heating element from Amazon it lasted one month even before I put it in I noticed that the coils was not as high quality and of course it failed. I then bought another one that appeared to be built better and I ordered that and it still works. The cheap carb don't seem to work because carbs are finicky and according to a buddy of mine they don't put the gaskets in very well.

I think the difference between the good and the bad is the quality control, especially if the item has to meet some sort of global or north American/ European standard. The "cheap" stuff I'm thinking of are the knock off items that are molded after designs from high end manufacturers. You can usually see and feel the difference as soon as its in your hand.
