Got it done
Zero gobbles on the roost yesterday morning. Such a perfect t morning to be a bust I kept thinking. I edged my way to the back of the woods calling every 20 yards until finally I got cut off by a very close gobble.
dropped down and got against the closest tree. No time to get a decoy out. Two jakes come in fast and get to about 40. This one’s struts up, gobbles and puts on a great show. Good enough to excite me and throw a shot at him. Dropped and done instantly.
nothing special size wise but it’s a hunt that will be remembered for sure and the fan will go in my trophy room regardless.

Congrats on the bird! Sometimes things happen fast and when you least expect it...as you said no gobbles. That's when a large percentage of hunters would have packed it in.

Great job, never give up when you don't hear any gobbles, many a time I got discouraged and got up up to leave only to be busted by a silent tom coming in, learned my lessons the hard way, live and learn
