Thanks, entered the contest, great prizes.
It has been yes as is the choice of shotgun shells. 2 3/4 vs 3 inch.
Never used to be, but I have a broken shoulder that won't heal now. Guess I won't be using my 30-06 any more..............Daniel
The older I get the more it is considered.
First and foremost when purchasing a firearm is the purpose e.g. deer, moose, elephants. As it turns out, I dont hunt elephants and the other critters can be had with firearms with reasonable recoil.
Same as Sam said don't hunt elephants so can get away with lesser calibers.
But saying that you only really feel recoil when on the range as I consistently shoot 300wim mag at the range but when hunting big game don't ever feel the recoil
No recoil isn't a consideration when buying a gun because I don't need to buy anything that would recoil too badly.
Depends how we approach the question-lot of the recoil can be dampened by heavier gun ,or better clothing, making it no issue(not thinking African big came calibers) .
I think better approach would be-do You need heavy calibers for hunting big game in Ontario?
Definitely heavy recoiled guns are not much needed in Ontario-even though i know more then one moose hunter, who swears by(i think-with a reason to a degree)that shooting moose over lakes or clear-cuts require 300 win mag ,or sort.
Ethics of very long range shots is another topic..........
