So Benchmade offers a factory sharpening service.
I have a s90v knife which pretty hard steel and a pain to sharpen by hand.
Does not seem to have any locations in Canada, so my understanding shipping access the border will have some steep fees associated with it.
Had anyone used this service?
Is it worth the shipping costs?

I would worry about it getting stuck with the CBSA.
I was thinking that too. Lol
It's a fixed blade knife so wouldn't know how customs will treat it.

Never sharpened a S90 yet but with S30V and S35V the Lansky sharpening system does a great job.
I start with med diamond then coarse stone and finish off with fine stone.
I do 5 stroke on each side with each at 25 degrees.
You might have to start with Coarse diamond?
I personally wouldn’t send my knives to sharpen, I can get them sharper then factory.
edit to add: Benchmade does have the nicest factory grind IMO.

Very similar to what i do. Lansky medium diamond, fine diamond, fine stone, ultra fine stone. Gets my fixed blade benchmades hair popping crazy sharp. I don't think you need the coarse diamond even for S90V. I have a coarse diamond and it is strictly for the realm of re-profiling - it removes a ton of metal in a hurry.Quote:

Wowser. That kinda angle is filleting knife territory. You could still use the Lansky method and stones but would have to make your own guide/jib for the stones to accommodate the low angle.Quote:
