The normal practice in Ontario is to not publish the current year’s quotas in the hunting regs summary as the MNR doesn’t have all the data when the booklets are produced. Im not sure how long they have been posting the numbers online, but I just happened to notice this year’s quotas.
I did a bit of research and noticed that for WMU 10, the quotas for the past few years were as follows: 2019 & 2020=1600, 2021=800, 2022=650. When I started hunting there about 40 years ago, the unit had the highest hunter success rate in the province of well over 50%! For many years, our group consistently tagged out on bucks. It’s been many years since that happened. Now tagging 3 deer is a feat. It’s not all bad though, we still have lots of fun and we don’t hunt as hard as when we were younger.
