Satellite Dish Woes

Last fall, the Bell satellite system at the deer camp crapped out (signal loss). So this past spring, we tried tweaking the dish adjustments thinking that it was out of alignment. Also did the system reboot and check switch processes. No luck, couldn’t find any satellites. I brought the receiver home and it worked fine so it sounds like a hardware issue. I purchased a new SW44 and power inserter and tried everything to get a signal but no luck. We even remounted the dish with a level and verified the azimuth, elevation, and skew. The only thing left to do is change the LNBs. Anyone knowledgeable with Bell dishes and have advice? Thx

Edit: dish has clear view of the sky.

By the looks of it, there's not much to repair on the LNB's other than the connectors. Lot's of Bell quad LNB's for sale on Kijiji. simple swap.

Not sure why they would go bad, but we’ll swap them out.

Could be the cable, I had mine go before.

I thought of that and tested the cables from the LNBs to the switch with an Ohms meter and they appeared to be ok. I may have to revisit this later.

i've had LNBs go bad over the years. not sure why. change it out and back in business

I have also had LNB's go. If you have tested the receiver then that really only leaves two things. Cable and LNB.

We picked up a new dish with LNBs, switch, and satellite signal meter. One the gang will go to camp this week and hook things up… should work.

LNB’s have printed circuit boards in them and if moisture gets in the cards get corroded, water ingress through the plastic cap. Changed mine this year and now the picture is perfect. Take the old one apart and you can see the board.
