Gun ranges ?

Hello everyone. I never go to gun ranges for the reason that I literally cannot find one that will let you come and shoot other than being a member.

The member process seems very time consuming and long and you still aren't garenteed on becoming one once you go through the process either. I guess my question is if anyone knows of one where you dont need to be a member?

The only one I found was down in Brantford and their range is very small. Maybe 25-50 yards max. Only place I was able to find that let me come in on the spot pay for a lane and let me shoot my own gun with my own ammo .

If anyone has any info on a range that will let me do the same id love to hear about it.

I believe they are member only because of an incident 2 years ago from what I've read on their reviews. I will call and check tho. Thanks gbk

Target sports canada, on stoufville north of richmond hill.

but short lanes, and they dont allow bird shots to be able to pattern shotgun.

Most clubs are members only but usually allow members to bring a guest. Do you know anyone who shoots at a club that would take you. Usually guests pay a higher rate than members but not usually terrible. Also, a lot of clubs only allow one guest per member and the guest is only allowed to shoot maybe three times and then are expected to apply for membership. Number of times may vary from club to club and once you apply the club may allow you to be a guest until membership is approved. May seem rough to some but as you stated about Silverdale, the club stands to lose a lot if members and guests don't behave.

X2. Our club used to allow non-member clay target shooting and would host annual sight-in days each on the rifle range for non-members at a nominal charge. We stopped doing it a few years ago due to bad behavior and all it takes is one incident to shut a club down.

On clay target ranges non-members would be seen shooting off the station, using unapproved ammunition, going between stations with loaded guns and refusing to wear safety equipment, etc. The sight-in days became complete clown fests. I served as a volunteer RO on several of them and with each passing year there seemed to be more and more jerks who thought their modest range fee entitled them to shoot up the place, not follow basic safety rules and ignore range commands.

Just call them BJ-i just checked their website(if it is NOT OUTDATED)they do still take non memebers ,quite liberal approach too for HUNTER SIGHT IN,alas that is not available all year round.........

I'm in vaughan, and it would be for my .308 rifle and maybe shotgun slugs/ sabots. Mainly just sighting in or just taking some shots at paper.

I'm on the board of directors of a club...
Despite regular/annual requests, we don't even allow LE (police, cbsa etc) book our range(s) for training.

Clubs are built and developed by paying members who have a stake in the maintenance and continuance of their facilities.
There's far too much risk in allowing for the possibility of it all being ruined by some casual tourist.

A lot of folks gripe at the situation with clubs in Ontario, but... 'Sorry, not sorry.
