Does the speed dial affect light transmission on crossbow scope !
The speed dial is the same as the magnification dial. My scope is marked on the top side in FPS for matching up reticle hash marks and on the bottom side for magnification(2-7x) As you increase the speed dial you are increasing the magnification to adjust the hash marks to match the speed of your crossbow. I shoot a matrix 380 and the dial is set between 3 and 4 on the mag ring/speed dial. Thats where it stays for the hash marks below the crosshair to be accurate. If I was shooting a 450-500 FPS crossbow then the mag ring would be in the 6-7x range. This would likely decrease light transmission a bit, but is it noticeable who knows, as with any rifle scope when you are hunting at last light it will gather more light at 3x than at 9x.
