Moose Hunt Summary
The short version of the story is that no moose were harmed and none were seen.
The longer version is that we hunted from October 15th to noon on the 22nd. We hunted in 2 ways; boat access to remote areas near water, or natural openings by ATV. The weather was very mixed: Saturday was warm and dry, Sunday was rainy all day and turned to snow overnight, woke up to 5” of wet snow on Monday and howling winds, Tuesday was cloudy with howling winds, Wednesday was windy, Thursday-Saturday was mostly cloudy with lighter wind. Most of the snow had melted by the end of the week.
The only action happened on Sunday when 2 moose were coming to the call. Both moose were in heavy cover at close range (25 yards) when radio chatter spooked them off.
In spite of the poor hunting results and challenging weather, I found the hunt enjoyable. There were 4 of us and we had a very comfortable camp: 2 travel trailers and a canvas tent with a wood stove. I hadn’t played Euchre in years but the game came back to me pretty quickly. Looking forward to doing it again next year.

Glad you had a good hunt, as you know, it's not all about the harvest

It was a crappy week for sure up my way, I did not hunt as I had no tags, but did capture 3 nice images of a Coe and calf walking through my open field at 7.48am last Thursday. I have noticed a pattern over the last 5 years, a Cow and go through that field during legal hunting times
almost every Wednesday each year with the exception of this year.
