So just noticed a tick on inner thigh of my Doberman he’s on bravecto tick and flea
Tick was dead and not engorged at all. I think meds work as they should but he has the red ring ?

What to do now.
Ticks are bad right now white dog I’ve picked 3 off her last week red dog not so nice to see them
Consult your vet, they may want to put him on antibiotics as a precaution, that's what they do with people atleast. Also possible it is just irritation.

A bit north of Barrie here. We've never really had an issue with ticks....until this year. Dog has meds, but I've taken two off of me that were not attached and woke up one morning to a burning in my hip to find a tick attached. It was a female deer tick - lyme carrier amongst other things. They gave me the one dose of antibiotics as a precaution.

I am not a vet and can only give my opinion from experience. Bravecto works, the tick is now dead; doesn't look like a deer tic to me. It did start some chewing so you have an inflamed bit. I'm assuming the Bravecto dose you gave is up to date. So I'd forget about it , but if the inflammation doesn't show healing in 3-5 days, I might see the vet.

I wouldn't worry about this red patch. I've pulled three ticks out of me this year and a couple out of our lab. A small mark is not unusual and it fades away. If however the mark looks like a bullseye get to a vet/doctor ASAP.

hate ticks. Last year my dog all kinds on her in late fall, they were very small as well, and she wasn't even in the bush or weeds. She was playing in a sandy area around the barn while I was having a cigar with the owner. I believe I killed them all before they got through her hair.
Be careful to properly identify the tick you've been bitten by -- the bullseye rash only shows in a small percentage of Lyme transmission cases.Quote:
