Shout out for Schlage.

About a month ago my front door lock fails to operate and locks me out, good job the wife let me in. Anyway take it apart and all I need is a replacement entry latch. So locate that part on a Rona and Lowes sites but none of them have them in stock.

So I end up contacting Schlage Canada and ask if they can sell me that part, it was $15.99 at Rona's.

So the reply was NO we don't do that and they ask about the lock. So I tell them its the ORIGINAL BUILDERS LOCK from 37 years ago
I have no receipts and then they ask for a few photographs.

After verifying its their lock I ask again if I can buy a entry latch, NO SIR you have a Lifetime warranty we will send you a complete new set in the mail. Got it yesterday delivered to the door.

That kind of surprise is very nice , but unusual. :)

Good on the company for understanding your problem and sticking to a warranty.

As a newer homeowner and having been in the trades a few years, i've learned more about the "buy once cry once" Quality products and companies that stand behind their products are usually what i go for

Now and then this kind of stuff happens….we lost the hardware for a cheapy IKEA shelving unit and had the same experience….we were wondering about where it was after a few weeks and upon arrival and examining the packaging we found that it actually shipped from Sweden…!
