Nipissing Ice Fishing Trip Help

Hello, hope everybody is having a good winter.

Due to time constraints, I haven't been able to hit the hardwater this year -- at all. I have an opportunity to do so now. As such, looking at the forecast in and around Lake Simcoe, I am looking to head up to Nipissing for a few days next week given that I don't know how well the ice conditions will hold up down here. The long and the short of it is that I haven't been up there, and I don't really know where to stay. I would be staying in a hotel and would be walking out -- no snowmobile or ATV.

I'm not looking for hotspots or anything like that; I was just wondering if anybody could direct me to a town to stay at with good public access. That's all. Maybe somewhere where I could walk to some decent perch/walleye grounds. I hope that's not asking too much.

Check out Terrace Suites.. I have stayed there a number of times.. pretty nice.. and its about a 5 minutes drive to the public launch at Callander where you can walk out .. and the walk is not that far ... parking near the launch is free .. and I have seen lots of people parking along the road that runs along the lake as well. Billy Bob's is close for bait too. It is also a short drive to get to the south shore as well... We have done well fishing near Deepwater Point in years past.

^^This. Easy parking and easy walk around Centennial Park in Callander. For a room whatever you can find close to this. I know a few guys that mainstream hotel in North Bay (Day Inn, Best Western etc.) and than drive each morning to Callander - 15 minute drive.

You might enquire with Glen Echo Cottages and see if they are open for ice fishing accommodations….? Real nice spot but I am not sure if their cottages are winterized for water supply etc

Sunset park right in North Bay is also decent point to park get on and fish if walking.
