I am thinking of getting a pair of prescription shooting glasses made up primarily for skeet shooting. I use bifocals for daily use but I am thinking of just having a distance prescription in these glasses or a small bifocal lens on the bottom.
Just curious what other people are using and I'm open to suggestions.
I have talked briefly with Next Optical and they seem very interesting.
I wear my standard bifocal glasses. I have thought a couple times that I could get away with a pair of just distant lenses but then there is always a time that I need the bifocal, so gave up on that idea as was pain to have to change them out when not shooting,
I am thinking the same way now that you brought it up. When my prescription renews in November I think I will get a bit bigger frame so that when I mount the shotgun I won't be looking at the bridge of my glasses. I may even go to transition or photo grey lenses. I adjusted the temples so they aren't as bad as when they slid down my nose so I can make do for a few months. I would still like to find a good pair of Over Glasses sun glasses of at least two different colours. Probably smoke or blue and orange. My eyes seem to be a bit more sensitive to different light in my old age. I looked at Nocry but they aren't available in Canada other than Amazon U.S..
Any other suggestions would be appreciated.
I'm using Randolph Rangers purchased through Frank Rively in the U.S. Previously I had a set of Decots and think they are both of equal quality. I went with a distance only prescription. Shooting glasses are worn higher than regular glasses and if I need to see something closer I can look underneath the lenses. My near vision doesn't need that much correcting.
I've used Randolph Rangers for a long time-interchangeable lenses which can be replaced for colour changes or presciptions. Morgan Optical Sport Glasses in Olean NY.
You can call your prescription over the phone to Wayne Morgan and he will have lenses sent out quickly. An optometrist who understands shooting!!

In the meantime, does anyone have any suggestions for over glasses shooting glasses? I found a company in the U.S. called Nocry that look interesting. The only distribution in Canada is Amazon.ca but they only have the clear lenses, not the smoke or orange. Any experience or opinions about them or other brands would be appreciated.
For what its worth, I went ahead and ordered a set of smoke and a set of orange from Amazon U.S. and a case for each. Should be around $100.00 Cdn. by the time they get here. I will still look into the Ranger Edge when my prescription comes due. In the worst vase I should have a couple of good sunglasses out of it.
I'll post what I think of them after I've had a chance to use them in case someone else is interested.
I have been using the Nocry safety glasses that i bought for a while now and have to say that I am quite happy with them. They fit very comfortably over my prescription glasses and don't move around or fall down my nose. Lenses seem to be very clear and I can't notice any distortion.
They also work well for driving.

I prefer progressives for all shooting. Never have tried true bifocals, but it seems to me that the jump in magnification at the top of the window would be disconcerting.
My Optometrist talked me into progressive lenses a few prescription changes ago and they made me so dizzy I would almost be sick when I walked. I tend to get vertigo sometimes and I told him this beforehand so he promised to take them back if I wasn't happy. I gave them an honest effort of 3 months before I returned them. I would much rather see that bi-focal line than the progressive lens.
I know most people do great with them but not everyone is as weird as I am.
