It sounds like they just want you to show them your hunting spot.
I assume you are referring to moose hunting? Going on a scouting trip, depending on where you live and how far away you plan to do your scouting, can be expensive. Gas and/or travel expense can be prohibitive, if it simply involves scouting? In the past I would incorporate a fishing trip and/or small game (birds) into any of my roaming the bush trips. Nothing wrong with that.
Is this "new" hunter a young fella? Maybe day's off work is something he can't afford? Lots of variables to this story you havent mentioned.
It speaks a lot your character to offer a new guy the opportunity, there is no better reward than passing along your knowledge.
I have made the mistake of taking new guys to my best spots only to have those spots invaded, I only take new hunters to my #2 spots until they put in some work to scout and prep.
Also, in my experience, new guys dont have good field skills like navigating in the dark, so that would be part of the mentoring.
I'm MARKER, I'd not take anyone experienced or not to any of my hunting spots unless there was no chance they could come back by themselves. I learned the hard way and lost a great spot for ducks. I have no choice in the matter where I deer or turkey hunt as I have been told that I can't bring anyone else as the owners have had issues with others

Scouting is dangerous unless you really know the hunter well , and even then......You don't want to get shot.
It was just here 100-200 km distance day trip
picking up some trail cameras on snowshoes
5-10 km walk ( shorts distance ... )
By the way I have a good experience disclosing my hunting ground ,
couple year ago I did that and now I have a good hunting partner .
So I give an opportunity to new hunters , I don't want to end up like so many hunt groups,
age out , I want to see young hunters in the group ,
but I have one rule ...
The new prospect have to be able to sleep under any tree on the hunt ... (multiple location on the way ...)
and to survive on sausage and bacon for a week ...
So who don't want to walk 10 km minimum per day do not apply ...
