can turkeys get the bird flu ?
or is that for waterfowl mostly ?
would imagine yes as they are clearing out poultry farms if found.
To my understanding all birds can carry or be killed by the Avian Flu but because of the way it gets spread via their feces, saliva or nasal secretions and is why waterfowl (especially dabbling ducks ) can spread it more quickly. Infected birds could feed in fields that wild turkeys also use and then they may get infected.
should we be worried about this for the upcoming turkey season ? or if it was a healthy bird before the shot, its all good to go ?
you're actually worried about avain bird flu and you want to talk about intellect?

And this is how a good thread goes to pot. Repeated ad nauseam keep your comments respectful and non confrontational. won't go to the bother of issuing warning however keep it up and will.
As to your concern Ata83. I'd be more concern with running into one with the poxs but in any case treating the bird with hygienic conditions is always good practice. If you have birds at home avoid contact with them to be on the safe side. In the end you're cooking the bird so in my opinion there should be little concern. If you get a bird bring it over I'll help u process it.
