It's been about 35 years since I was last out spearing suckers - it's about this time of year - maybe more towards the end of April we would go.Quote:

We used to spear suckers when I was teenager growing up north of the Soo. We did it at night and some drink may have been taken. :D
I know a few young lads in my neck of the woods may have done the same thing after dark years ago. From guys riding through the culvert to getting chased down the creek by an angry beaver, fun times.Quote:

Very interesting guys, I do still live fairly close to the spot we used to go, maybe I should try spearing them and cooking (I doubt I'd be fast enough to grab one now). If I ever get a spare minute that is....
Yes, big parties in small creeks, we caught them every which way.
We would can them with a tomato sauce.
