When we were kids maybe 10-12 me and my buddy would go try and catch them by hand, reaching under the overhanging Creek bank and could always grab a couple on a good day. Never ate them, just had some fun since there were so many. Does anybody really eat them?
I don't know when the regulation came into effect but I hope the statute of limitations has been reached. LOL.
We used to spear suckers when I was teenager growing up north of the Soo. We did it at night and some drink may have been taken. :D
I’ve eaten suckers that were canned and smoked. They were good eats!
Very interesting guys, I do still live fairly close to the spot we used to go, maybe I should try spearing them and cooking (I doubt I'd be fast enough to grab one now). If I ever get a spare minute that is....
Yes, big parties in small creeks, we caught them every which way.
We would can them with a tomato sauce.
