Tiny Marsh/Matchedash Bay

I have a few questions about anyone who knows these areas. I am looking at getting a gun dog in the near future and am looking for areas to train it with a reasonable amount of live birds. What kind of upland game birds are in these areas and what are there populations like? And in Matchedash in particular where are good access point to the ducks unlimited areas and more marsh like areas for waterfowl hunting? I know the main rivers and bay to an extent but wasn't sure what areas are open to public. I would also like to take my 2 young kids out during off season for walks around these areas, is there good access for that sort of thing?

Tiny Marsh is a "Pay & Play" area. You have to pay $50 to hunt pheasants and get a two bird limit for the day. I have personally seen grouse in there but they are of the "ESG" variety (Evil Southern Grouse) so shouldering a gun in time would be IMPOSSIBLE.
There is also a separate waterfowl hunting area with different fees which I am not familiar with.

Matchedash Bay is great for fishing and waterfowl hunting, but the surrounding land is either private or hard to access so upland bird hunting would be a challenge. The bay itself is public so you can fish and hunt ducks all day. For a very long time during the 80's and 90's my favourite fishing place was Waubaushene and I caught numerous fish there but never hunted the area.

For walking with your kids, try the Simcoe Forests instead. Copeland is also not far from you, just north of Barrie.

Thanks for the info. We've gone to Copeland a bunch and love it there. I read up on the tiny website and the info was good just wasn't sure of bird number is or where to find them. The info on matchedash is super appreciated. I've canoed into before but only once and never spent time there so I have no idea what it's like around there
