Wondering if youve tried it

Hello all,
im sure some of you may have tried this, if not maybe it happened by accident, or maybe you're also wondering the same thing. Theres been a couple times ive been turkey hunting with my turkey decoys, sitting all day without any sign of a turkey. then all of a sudden a deer comes strolling out next to the decoys, wait whats that behind him? oh another deer LOL. this months magazine in the ask a CO section someone asked if they could legally bring turkey decoys to put out as a confidence booster and the answer was yes. (as long as you could prove youre hunting deer and not turkey)


so now my question,

has anyone tried this?

does anyone do this regularly ?

deer and turkeys do interact all the time. ive seen it happen with real turkeys and my turkey decoys lol.

they also share alot of the same food sources especially in the winter. ive always joked about brining my decoys along but i think i honestly will do it this year lol

I have used them a few times on the food plot. Put like a group of three out. My theory was the deer would see them and help put them at ease. Can't say it made any difference good or bad. But that being said i only tried it 3 times so totally anecdotal. Decided it wasn't worth the extra hassle.

I had a similar experience when calling geese, had a doe walk ten yards in front of my setup, it nearly jumped out of its own fur when it saw me.

I have tried using a goose call while deer hunting but no success, given the right scenario I would try it again and may even add a goose decoy.

All I've had come into Turkey dekes are Coyotes. Turkey loads work really well on them,too.

i guess it depends where youre hunting then,

i usually hunt in a ground blind or i make my own ground blind out of things in the woods, if anything i would just leave the decoys in there every night.

thinking the same thing species my thinking is theyll have some confidence to step out of the bush and also be paying more attention to the turkey decoys then whatever else going on to a certain extent? i dont think it would work as well in the bush though ? maybe on a trail ?

I have had them walk into my turkey decoys several times. Most notably had 3 hang around with our decoys on opening day this year!

Why not just use a deer decoy?

I use a folding Montana decoy, no luck yet with it but I will keep trying.
