Each year before rifle season for Deer I look up the sunrise and sunset times for the area I hunt. I make a list and carry with me the legal shooting times (1/2 hour before sunrise and 1/2 hour after sunset) to avoid any conflict. I have never been checked by a warden but just knowing that I have done my due diligence gives me peace of mind.............Daniel
I carry a gps which I rely on for sunrise/sunset times,
my garmin gps watch gives me sunrise and sundown times, never to worried about it.
not sure how some of these people shoot half hour before legal, i cant even see 5 feet infront of me when lega comes around! LOL
I use the IHunter Ontario app on my phone, for the price i'm really impressed with the app.
I do the same thing but usually I am on the move back to the cabin about 10 minutes before last shooting time. If I wait until the end, bag the gun properly and start walking out in the dark what happens if I run into Yoggie Bear?Quote:

well deer hunting it too dark for me to shoot 10 or 15 minutes before legal quitting time. Now if hunting over a field where it is light enough to shoot and there is a deer that will make it to me in time I will wait, but if they are to far away to get to me in time I pack up and leave, so that way I don't spook them packing up at legal with them 30yds away and seeing or hearing me. in the morning it is always to dark even at shooting time to see anything for about 20 minutes at least if there are leaves on the trees. 2 years ago I loaded up the xbow at legal and was sitting there, saw the infrared light go off on my camera 15 minutes later than got alert on phone. Checked it out and there was a really nice buck standing there looking at camera, that would have put him at 22yds broad side, I never even seen him pass.
I use the weather app on my iPhone; it shows sunrise/sunset times as well.
The main reason that I write it all down is that I am a dinosaur, (old school) I don't have a gps, I use maps and 2 compasses and a watch. I also do not have a cell phone. LOL..........................Daniel
