Controlled hunt buck!
Well, a few weeks back i posted about a new property that i was able to hunt. it was quickly determined it was a terrible property with any wind from the west. i set up stands as best as i could but wasnt hopeful. lucked out opening morning with a south east wind.
Got into the stand nice and early and at first light let out a bleat followed by some aggresive short grunts.
7am looked to my left and here comes big boy! he was about 150 yards (opposite side of the field) and im not comfortable making those shots so i didnt shoot. he put his nose down and he was coming in hot. I let him cut the distance in half and he kind of quartered to me and looked back and i wasnt sure how long before he was going to step into my wind so i let him have it. i smoked him and he went about 80 yards into the edge of the field and laid down.
I didnt know the magnitude of the deer i just shot until i walked up to him. I facetimed the wife and kids on my walk to him so they got to witness the excitement and reality of this deer first hand.

my buddy hunted my stand on wednesday morning and had a nice 8 pointer chasing a doe come out briefly but no shot. was a great week with our group ending up with 6 total

Wow that’s an awesome buck. You probably won’t ever shoot a bigger one so keep your expectations in check lol.
