Had some excitement on the Friday night of deer season. I was sitting behind my sister's farm when I seen my brother in law coming back with the combine to take off some corn. As I was contemplating moving to a different area of the farm I get a text from BIL that just said 3 leg. I had heard earlier in the week that the guy that hunts the property behind had blew a leg off a big deer and while tracking it kept bumping him up. I got out of my stand as BIL was wheeling out to me in the combine as I didn't know if he was dead or got bumped up again. Apparently he was alert and thrashing around but unable to stand after lying in the corn for a couple days. Or so I thought. I walked into the corn, he was lying down facing me. I didn't want to shoot him in the face so I drilled him in the neck and chest from the front. This is where he decided to get up again, much to my dismay. He jumped to his feet and ran straight at me, passing me in the next row of corn to where I was standing as I just saw antlers go by my face. I had my BIL take a couple short strips of corn off and he was piled up 40 yards away. I'm 6'4" and 300lbs and I know I was still losing that game of chicken. Not the biggest bodied deer I have on camera, but a nice wide 8pt.
