No snow, thin ice

It’s been an usual month of December up here along Lake Superior’s north shore as there’s been a severe lack of snow. In a normal year, guys would have been tracking moose in the snow come the first week of December, but we don’t have any or much around. Some of the larger lakes are barely ice covered and anglers have to be extra careful when heading out onto the hard water.

On Thursday, it was +12 degrees and there is a good chance that we will have a green Christmas which I have never experienced in the 40 years of living up here (although Thunder Bay has been brown a few years). My prediction is that Mother Nature will make us pay for this at some point either with a crappy spring or summer.

The weather sure looks beneficial to the deer herd .

Good for the wild life and my gas bill.

I think you are right Sam, there will be a Yin to go with the Yang and we have a lot more Winter to go. I'm down in 90B on Lake Erie and don't think there will be any ice fishing on Long Point Bay this year and snow will be more like a "come & go" event and/or probably wet or freezing rain/sleet. Spring and Summer will be cool and wet.
