my 1st coyote
Well had do go to the bush today to make a garbage run for landowner. Got to back of bush at 745, put caller out 20yds in field. Came back got stuff out of back pack and chair set. Look out over field to right nothing (down wind) then left into wind and there is something walking in the field away out and down. Get binocular as couldn't tell if deer what. It is a coyote crossing field it down about 300yd and out about same. So started the caller with rabbit. still going so turned volume up and she stopped, then started to back track. it started to come my way. Ranged it out after a bit and it 300yd out and still coming. it didn't stop or i would have taken the shot, then there was a house behind so not going to shoot. It got past the house far enough for me to shoot. It turned towards me and stopped facing me at 84yds, it was coming out of a small valley with the other side of the valley as my backdrop so was shooting into the ground behind. It never moved once I fired.

Nicely done. Good for you knowing what was downrange of your shot.

Wtg. What did you hit it with?

22-250 with ballastic tip hornaby 50gr

That will work and nice to use the smaller stuff in tighter places.

Well done ! That's the exact same load I'm using now but my latest purchase was the 55 gr. Varmint Express by Hornady. I'm hoping it doesn't change the point of impact by much ? I'm using a Remington 788 with a 4x Bushnell scope, would love to upgrade the scope to a 3-9x (?) maybe a Vortex or Burris might be in my price range ? Then again "if it ain't broke don't fix it " may well apply.

I'm using a remington VTR with bushnel Nitro 2.5X10. I just checked on the shells, i was wrong they are 55gr v-max. I have some remington 50gr hollow points that I target shoot with, not as accurate as the hornaby.
