Spent Primers

Hey everyone, I apologize if this is a simple question but what do you do with spent primers? Can you just throw them out with the trash, or can they be recycled? Does anyone take them in to a metal recyclers?

I throw mine out. I go through maybe a thousand a tear; the weight is almost nothing.
I'm not sure if any recycler would want them due to the remote possibility of finding a live one among the spent ones.
