Did Ruger not just buy Marlin ?
Yep....they're turning out some really spectacular rifles,but,so is the price. Unfortunately,they don't seem to be making it into the Canadian market except in a very small limited quantity. Besides,we know that lever and semi-auto rifles are on the government chopping block,so,why would a Canadian invest big bucks into something they'll need ro turn in shortly if the current regime wins another term?Quote:

The initial scope of the firearms bans advanced by the government was the intention that all firearms capable of carrying more than 4 rounds were to be removed from the Canadian market and private ownership in lock step with other former commonwealth countries (Austrailia,New Zealand) however,it's also seen what a catastrophic bollux has been made of those programs to the point where NZ is in the process of canceling their entire mess and the Aussies are rapidly modifying theirs. It remains to be seen if our current government has the wherewithall to do the same,or,for that matter,is even capable of intelligent thought on the matter despite the volumns of evidence presented by various pro-firearm groups.Quote:

I’ve owned one in 30-30 for 35 years. Many (maybe most) of the older ones in Canada were sold through home hardware and Canadian tire. I had a gunsmith install a better rear sight on mine.
.32 and .35 owners are fighting ammo scarcity now. These guns like a new magazine spring every so many years but are otherwise pretty much maintenance free. I prefer the design and function over the 94.

Is there a way to plug a Mod. 94 30-30 to hold less shells. I would hate to lose my pre 64..........................Daniel
Daniel, it should be as easy as plugging a shotgun, almost....
Undo the small screw on the underside of the mag tube near the muzzle. Remove the magazine end cap, install a piece of 7/16" dowel, reassemble.
However, that's not as permanent as pinning the mag. Pinning would be relatively simple; it's not that difficult to remove the mag tube. Then drill a hole through it, and insert a pin.
I'd hate to lose my favourite Marlin; I've owned a few, but the one I've kept is my 1958 336 DL, in .30-30 Ackley.
