Cubs or Yearlings?
So I've been in a debate with a few people,
I do realize that shooting a sow with cubs at her side is not allowed however "a cub is defined by a bear born within the year of the hunt." as per the Fish and Wildlife Act.
With that being said I saw this photo and wanted to know if these would be classified as cubs or yearlings. I've been told that cubs in the first year are small (think that of the size of a small dog) vs yearlings that are the average size of a lab per-say.
What are your opinions .. Cubs or yearlings in the photos below?

Yearlings. Cubs are not much bigger then a house cat right now and at most about the size of a coon.
See this chart:
Weight and Age Relationship for Black Bears and Humans.pdf (umn.edu)
At 4 months a bear cub only weighs 5 lbs. That's what they would be right now if cubs.
