Mossberg 935 Rifled Deer Barrel

Open question to Mossberg owners who use Cantilever rifled deer barrel, my situation is many years ago when I purchased my Mossberg combo I spent time with different sabot slugs to find what works 12g 3' partition gold "clover at 50 yard" was the winner.
I have 3 rounds left so last year I started the process again usual candidates from local Canadian tire, Hornady and Browning, everything same on shotgun scope etc.
Hornady 3 boxes could not keep on target
Browning gave up after one box
Now that the partition gold is no longer produced and now I'm on a fixed income I wondering what other Mossberg owner have found that work, I thanks all in advance if I don't get back to you.

I cannot comment on the mossberg 935 but my 500 with a cantilever rifled barrel shoots my homerolled Lyman 525 slugs extremely well at under 4" @100 yrds.

I have a Mossberg 535 and 835 and neither like Hornady. I have found the Federal Blue box works best, Federal Red box premium and the Browning. I have about 6 boxes of the Federal Blue box and 1 each of the other.

Rick, I thought I was the only one that bought a 935, I only have smooth bore so can comment on slugs. It a good gun when it muddy as it keeps on cycling shells, but it shoot left and low. Shop said choke threads are not lined up proper in barrel. Off topic but just surprised someone else has a 935

I've never had a mossberg but have owned several different ones, SXP,870,SX3. I found the remington accutips to be accurate in every gun I've had. They were not my favorite for hunting however. I liked the federal with barnes bullet when they were available for performance on deer. The accutips are the only sabots that shoot well in my SX3 so as long as I can get them I wont have to sell the gun.

Probably not helping, but I find that the plastic from my sabot slugs quickly results in poor performance from my Mossberg 835 after only a few shots. How often do you scrub your barrel? I need to get the wire brush and clean out the rifling after 3-5 shots to maintain optimum accuracy with Hornady SST 12g 300gr sabots. It's a 100 yard gun for a couple of shots, then it's a 75 yard and eventually a 50 yard gun. Frustrating, but out of the many sabots I tried, the Hornady SST's were the most accurate by far from a clean barrel.

Not every bore cleaner removes plastic fouling properly.
Try ShootersChoice Choke tube cleaner.Takes out a lot of gunk(old old gunk too)..maybe that is part of your problem.

At the other hand...you likely do not ever need more then 3 shots on any deer;)

Thanks All barrel clean once a year usually 2 month before season, will try some copper out cleaner this time, as for needing more than 3 shots i usual pre-sight in every year 3 shot group so that will take my last 3 shells LOL. Lindsay doesn't have the sabots mentioned going to try other stores local to me.

With it raining outside I pulled shotgun out and cleaned it using products in picture from left to right, I then laser bore sighted (40foot) and sight was a hair off which I will fix when I do some sighting in. Will post more when I do that BTW the barrel looked clean then i started with copper clean all types of black gunk came out did all products till swabs came out clean.

The plastic fouling(SABOT melt) IS the culprit of ruining the accuracy of sabot barrels.

I think-cleaning in depth the gun after shooting is a very good practice.Gunk comes out....;)

For the ones,leaving their guns "fouled"til season,yet loosing accuracy after few shots-why not clean in depth.
Oil.
Store.
Then-before start of the season, dry the barrel out with 2-3 clean patches,take "one"fouling shot(if feeling the need of the "same"condition of the barrel ,as when sighting in.)

The next few"non fouled barell "yet still very ACURATE shots will be bang on.
