Can anyone share there on game experience with Barnes TSX/TTSX ammo.
Thanks
I have limited experience with the bullets on game, but I can provide some info. I've shot one deer with the Barnes .30 calibre 168gr TTSX that I handloaded for my 30-06. The results are described in the following thread:
https://www.oodmag.com/community/sho...21-deer-season
Other than that, I've found the bullets to be very accurate.
Very accurate, but I just have them for a spare box, incase what I normally shoot animals with I cant find, which be a Nosler partition or accubond load.
My opinion is that those are for heavy boned ,heavy skinned, muscular animals.
Like brown bear, maybe elk.....African larger game(not for dangerous game though)
Everything else-if no bone will be hit, they will zip thru ,leaving small exit hole.Hard to blood trail-easy to lose the wounded game.
Akin (to a great degree)to the discontinued Winchester Fail safe-which failed exactly due of the above concern.
After many game lost in NA due to the bullet toughness ,it became discontinued.
Plus-if you do not have reasonable speed(relative closeness)it will have hard time properly expanding.
Akin to Win Accubond-but there Winchester fixed this with introducing the Accubond Expedition Big Game long range version.
No expert-just my 2 cents
Thanks everyone
TTSX through the shoulder stops deer dead in their tracks. I get bang flops. I handload though, no experience with their factory ammunition.
