Breaking the Law - But

I've fished Ontario for many years - during that time I've talked to a lot of Canadian fishermen - now I'm not advocating that anyone break the law but let me tell you the way it is - there are possession limits on the fish you catch and for good reason - but there is one aspect of the law that I'm sure a lot of fishermen don't follow - they don't count the fish they have In the freezer at home as part of their possession limit - I guess they figure that those fish could have just as well been eaten instead of being frozen - and therefore not affect the fisherman from catching more of the same species on another fishing trip - they figure what is the difference if a fish is in the freezer or in your stomach -

I also found that a lot of fishermen are not in tune with possession and slot limits because their are critical of the way Natives can catch all the fish they want while the average fisherman is restricted - something we don't run into down here -

When up there I always follow the law but can see why some Canadians kinda don't - just saying - meanwhile all is almost quiet on the southern front

I prefer eating fresh fish so seldom freeze any. Maybe vacuum packed fillets are better. I find that, once frozen, fillets can taste bland. Even worse are walleye that feed on smelt, IMO they taste real fishy and are greasy once frozen.

We catch so few around our neck of the woods that they don't last any more than a day. When I say "pickies for supper",the world stops.

I understand what you say about some folks not understanding the Native rights, if it was not for the Natives we would be flying the US flag today. I read a report that quoted the number of Native deaths to British soldiers in the 1812 war was 8:1. So in my opinion we should not forget the past.
