I'm tired of biting down on goose stew and chipping a tooth on the steel BB shot. I bought a Little Wizard II metal detector but it does not work even when I cut the goose breast fairly thin. Has any one tried any other kind of detector.
Your thoughts would be appreciated.

Garrett Pro pointer or pro pointer 2, whichever they sell now. I have the old one. It has a hack where you tape a nickel to the handle end and it somehow increases range even more. Not sure if newer one does same but easy to find buckshot etc in deer, etc.
I use the same and it works great with steel. It has a sensitivity setting and I always set it to high. Have to take my wedding ring and watch off otherwise get false positives. I don't know about the nickle thing, sounds like hokum. Use the Garrett to tell you the meat has a pellet and then use a super strong magnet to help you pinpoint the pellet so you can cut it out. I used to repair hard drives and when scrapping them I would save the really strong magnets. So strong you could put one in the palm of your hand and one on the back of your hand and they would stay there. With lead you have to go slow and be thorough and can't use the magnet trick.Quote:

Do any of you cut the meat fairly thin so the detector can pick up the steel shot? My detector will pick up a hinge through our wooden kitchen table but often misses BB size steel shot.
No need to cut thinly if using the Garrett.
We use a really strong magnet. whenever there is a hole in the breast we run magnet down both sides.
