Looking for potential causes of "patchy" hides on deer

Context: So we got a new property to hunt this fall which is on a large peninsula. There are a lot of deer ( guess not a lot of hunters around) however they are on the smaller side ( as expected with limited bio diversity).

Question: I've noticed a lot of "patchyness" with a bunch of them ( see pics). There are 3 with this year's fawn, a small doe and a 6 point buck. The doe and buck are rough looking.

Could this be just the time of year? The potential over population? The limited genepool?

They are growing their fall/winter coat and shedding their summer coat.

This. Completely natural

Wait until you get the spring pictures! They look much worse.

Totally normal. It's the normal fall moult from summer coat to winter coat. Deer all look like this for the next month till they grow in their grey winter coat
